The Problem

Mission

"The worth of water will only be understood when the wells are dry."

Imagine your child being hit by a train and yoh being helpless. This is exactly what you are doing to Earth by destroying the limited water resources. We are igniting a fire that will burn our future generations!

Rajasthan is no stranger to the problems of water scarcity. Though Rajasthan is the largest state, it comprises only 3 percent of the surface water in India. Water is so scarce in Rajasthan that sources of natural fresh water have become places of pilgrimage. There are hundreds of small and medium water conservation techniques in the state that have been deeply rooted in the social fabric of our state and used for over centuries to protect against water insecurity .These ancient water conservation techniques , helped the state survive its climate for centuries. One of the most significant conservation means are the Stepwells. They provided water for drinking, washing, bathing, and the irrigation of crops. They also served as cool sanctuaries for caravans, pilgrims, and other travelers during the heat of day or overnight. They played a key role in survival of many villagers living near them for centuries.

However, these structures are very old and unfit for use anymore. Therefore, these need reconstruction. That is where we step in. We aim to collaborate with an NGO and reconstruct stepwells to help the people in that region have access to a source of water. So, we humbly request you for your generous donations.

Remember saving water is good deed, it's a resource we all need!

So, do your future generations a favour and be a water saver!

What if we tell you 13500 villages in Rajasthan ran out of water?  Imagine you have only 1-2 glasses of water to survive the entire day! This is the horror of water scarcity that people of Rajasthan undergo every day!

Project Bawri is an initiative in collaboration with a renowned NGO: Gram Bharati Samiti. It aims to lend a helping hand to those suffering from water scarcity in the village of Booj through the reconstruction of stepwells, and particularly Booj Bawri.

Our work doesn't end on reconstruction, our vision is to conserve water and educate people about its importance. Moreover, we wish to turn people's attention towards the fading stepwells by examining the various aspects through which we can view them.

Target Audience

One of the villages in Rajasthan located in Jamwa Ramgarh tehsil of Jaipur district is the Booj village. This village is the home to the famous Booj Bawri built in 1820. This Bawri provided rain harvested water to the citizens of the Booj village for many decades. The bawri was the only source of clean water that the villagers could use for drinking, irrigation and even wash their clothes. But now the conditions have become worse.Years of harvesting rainwater and not maintaining the bawri has made the bawri unfunctional.

Being located in Rajasthan water is already a difficult commodity to come across and since the bawri is unfunctional the village is facing severe water scarcity, they don't have clean water to drink, irrigate their fields or any other task that requires clean water.Since the fields can’t be irrigated ,food has also become a scarcity in the village of booj.
